Hydraulic impact is adopted during casing lowering, grout injection, displacement and waiting on cement. The generated oscillation and hydraulic impact waves act on the casing, drilling fluid and casing fluid, improving cementing quality. This is a process of energy conversion. Oscillation generates waves, and waves can act energy on the medium to destroy the structures among medium particles and molecules, changing their original properties.

External casing packer for thermal recoveryIn recently, we have investigated and analysed the problems generated when cementing and completion are absent in case of lowering screens to the oil reservoir in the horizontal well. In conclusion, well life is shortened as well workover cannot be fulfilled due to well waterflooding at the early stage, which is the main cause of well production stop. Considering such cause, we developed the R-GFY external casing packer used when cementing and completion are absent in case of lowering screens to the oil reservoir in the horizontal well. In-water self-expanding packerThe in-water self-expanding packer is based on the principle that polymeric materials will expand in water. In such case, water molecules enter the polymer structure to enable the water swollen rubber to swell continuously, so as to seal the external annular space of the casing (or oil tube) and isolate horizons. Currently, this new downhole tool has been used in cementing and completion as well as in bare holes and casings.
